James Lawson Institute FAQ

When is the deadline to apply?

For the Los Angeles 2017 institute the deadline to apply is Friday September 22th at 11:59pm.

Are scholarships available?

Yes, If you would like to apply for a scholarship please email jameslawsoninstitute@gmail.com with the subject “SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION.” In your email please explain why you need the scholarship and how receiving a scholarship will help you advance your learning. Please also indicate if you are able to pay a portion of the fee for the institute and stipulate how much you are able to contribute. Please include your name, address, email address and phone number.

Will there be an opportunity for participant led content?

Yes, there will be breakout groups and other opportunities for participants to lead two evening programs.     

Will meals be provided?

Yes,  a continental breakfast, lunch, and dinner will be provided.

What is the fee for attending the James Lawson Institute?

Registration fees for participants* are as follows:
$250– Individuals employed by media, commercial or government organizations
$200 – Individuals with large nonprofit organizations and foundations
$100 – Individuals with local nonprofit and educational organizations
$50 – Organizers, activists and individuals not institutionally affiliated

How many participants you accepting per institute?

The target number of participants is 30-40.

Will Rev. Lawson be present at the Institute?

Yes, Rev. Lawson has a unique role and plans to fully participate.

Where will the institute take place?

The first institute will take place in the fall in Los Angeles. Applicants in the Western US are encouraged to apply. Other regional institutes are planned for the south, east and midwest. The specific location will only be released to accepted participants for privacy and security purposes.
